July 14 Newsletter

Taking a rocking scroll through my iPod lately, I noticed
a theme emerging. Eighties ladies. Lots of em. Cyndi, Stevie,
Pat, Bonnie, Belinda, Debbie, Debbie, Tiffany, Madonna, Heart.
Sure the boys were great and the Coreys were definitely king, but
its really the ladies of the 80s that left an indelible mark on
the pencil-case of culture.
Im not quite sure when it happened, but recently my love for
the 80s transmogrified like a Gremlin after midnight. My love
for that decade had always been ironic. Like totally ironic. I
wore Reebok hi-tops. I crimped my hair. I wore Swatch watches
up my wrist. Just for kicks yknow. Then one morning I woke up
and something had changed. It changed in one of those Freaky
Friday body-swap comedy kinda ways. Now I look in the mirror
and I no longer laugh in the face of the 1980s, I idolise it,
Billy Idolise it. I now see everything as being totally ICONIC.
The albums covers. The arcade games. The movie soundtracks. The
synths. The scratchnsniff stickers. The days when fads lasted
more than months.
Some things dont change. Im still solving my Rubiks cube. The
bangles are touring. Transvision Vamps Wendy James is back
gigging and DJing for your money honey.
Love is still a battlefield.
Just to prove how much we truly and honestly heart the 80s,
Skipping Girl salutes the 80s Icons with six limited edition
bags. There are only 100 of each design so snap them up faster
than snapbands on a sweaty wrist!
If youre tempted by a bit of 80s monogrammed style, new “Your
Name on a Bag” designs are also available. Since the 80s weve
all been on first-name basis with celebrities (back then it was
Claudia, Naomi, and Linda, now its Paris, Nicole and Lindsay)
so why not have your own name woven onto a bag and become an
instant legend in your own mind and on your own shoulder.
Who needs a surname anyway!
Sincerely yours,

PS: Until further notice were still adopting
90s fashions ironically.
